THE RRO (FIRE SAFETY) ORDER 2005
ARCADIS AYH plc has appointed Robert Pocklington as Senior Fire Safety Consultant of the Health & Safety team in ARCADIS AYH's Project Consultancy Services Sector.
Following the dramatic changes in fire safety legislation introduced on the 1st October 2006, ARCADIS AYH's Health & Safety team has become increasingly involved in advising high-risk companies such as hotels or offices on how to comply with the RRO Fire Safety Order 2005. This act now lays the responsibility for fire safety firmly in the hands of the employer and requires that a fire risk assessment is undertaken by a competent person. Robert Pocklington's wealth of experience in Fire Safety management will boost the Health & Safety team's capacity to advise the large number of companies who are now only just realising the implications of how the Order will impact on their businesses.
With 18 years experience working with the Royal Air Force Fire & Rescue Service internationally, including postings to Cyprus, Belize and the Falkland Islands. Robert left the Military in 1997 and channelled his experience and passion for Fire Safety into the commercial fire safety sector. In this role Robert conducted Fire Safety Risk Assessments on hotels, factories, shops, offices, and construction sites amongst others, as well as writing and delivering training courses on all aspects of Fire Safety and Prevention.
On his move to ARCADIS AYH plc. Robert comments:
'It is encouraging to see that the commercial world is giving Fire Safety a high level of attention. My move to ARCADIS AYH creates exciting opportunities for me to help all kinds of businesses from large corporations to independent operators through this challenging transition period in Fire Safety legislation, and implement procedures that will benefit the safety of their staff and customers alike. I see proactive fire safety management as a means business can not only protect their workforce and the environment, but also benefit financially with no loss of stock, information ruined, workplaces destroyed or down time through a fire.
David Webster, Sector Director, Health & Safety comments: 'ARCADIS AYH aims to provide professional assistance in all areas of fire safety and Fire Risk Management through our Fire Safety Consultancy, be it mediation with the Fire Authorities or Insurance Companies, or general advice about complying with the Fire Safety Order 2005.
